After a couple weeks of trying  minimal approach to span-reduction, I find that I have to step up the threshold. We're getting anything from 20-40 new spammalot members joining every day and a few of them are posting pr0n to the boards.

From this point forward, new members will need administrator approval in order to join and post. If you have a username that looks like a collection of random characters, comes from a domain in .ru or .cn, or uses the name of a product, expect your request for approval to be ignored.

Just an update on this:

Over the last couple of weeks I've had over 400 people try to join. Most of them are obvious spammers and I was rather ruthless about just marking them "no" and tossing them.

If I knocked you out in the process, my apologies. I just didn't have time to get to far into it with individuals.

I'd love to have new members join the forums, but if you want to do that, use the contact form on the Solar Clipper site to tell me and I'll approve you.
