Here's a different take on the intro/outro music.I'm having trouble with my narration recording for some reason. I must have changed something in the set up and now i have to fix it again.

Sounds pretty good to me!
I noticed this one was from PodShow instead of Archive.org.

I like it, but you knew that Could you try a shorter fadeout, maybe .5 or .25 seconds and start your voice slightly later in the clip? It's a 4/4 meter, and you're starting at slightly before the next bar. I think it is at 11.36 seconds, your voice starts at 11.00. That should keep the pace even better. - Pascal.

Yea, i noticed that, too. it needs some adjustments. I'm not happy with the sound quality in my narration and it'll change with the wording and timing of the text. I've emailed the band directly to see if they have any preference as to how they get credited -- any specific wording they'd like, etc. This is just a sample to see if how the music works with my voice.
I think it works pretty well, but - as I said - it needs some adjustment.

I think the music works very well with your voice.
What part of the sound quality don't you like? The s sounds are a tad sharp. Do you have a de-essing control/filter somewhere? Or just a simple EQ dropping some of the high tones from your voice channel.
What kind of rig do you have?

The recording was thin and I had to boost it.. which drove the sibiliants too high. I'd managed to screw up one of the settings on my recorder but I went through this morning and double checked everything.
FWIW, I use a Rode NT1A plugged into a Prosonus Tubepre with about a 10% drive and 25% gain. I run that out on a balanced XLR into a Zoom H4 recorder and then edit in Audacity. I'm *really* fussy about my voice quality - because once I get out from behind the music, it's just me in your ears.
I think the sample I just posted on the blog is MUCH better -- altho I'm not gonna get too bent about where the outro goes yet. I'm hoping to hear from the band and get the approved wording from them for a music credit.

IMHO, I like the original one. This one is nice, but sends me pictures of a rural farm fair, with hay wagons and piles of produce, dancing around a maypole... that kind of thing. The first one is more of that nautical feeling.

I am a fan of both musical choices. But at the same time I am listening for the stories so the music is just an added bonus
